Trip Report - Live MTT
Hey guys, I haven't been playing many tournaments online (except for dropping $100 in a $2 speed rebuy on Party yesterday, but other than that), but I did play in a live tournament last night, as did the rest of my family.
We started with 925 chips (weird number? I didn't understand either), and blinds were 5/10. First hand I got involved in was a hand in my blind, I had K7o and I checked. Flop was K69 rainbow, and I bet out, got one caller. Turn was an 8c, putting two clubs on board, and we both checked. River was the 10c, giving me the straight, and I bet small, she called and flipped K9 for two pair. (t1500 [These are all estimates, but they're relatively close])
I folded for a while, and picked up Ah6h on the button at 20/40 blinds, and raised it up to 120. Got one caller, flop came Ad8s9s, he checked, I bet and he called. Turn was the 10s, and we both checked. River was Jc, he bet and I folded. (t1300)
One orbit later, I pick up Kh5h and decide I'm going broke on this hand. Three limpers before me, so I limp along in the cutoff. Both blinds come in and we have a 6-way pot. Flop is Ah8c6h, and the big blind bet small, like 50, I figured he was protecting his draw or something. The three limpers folded and I raised to 250, and without hesitation he says he's all-in. I only had 350 more chips or something, and he had me covered. I made a crying call, and he flipped A6o. Turn was a 7c, no help there. But the river brought a beautiful 4s for my backdoor straight. (t2500)
I made it through the first break with about 2300 in chips, and was sitting pretty good, and then they brought in this guy with a stack that was roughly 5000. I didn't play too many hands, I stole blinds to keep myself afloat and the next hand I got was A7o in small blind when the cutoff pushed for 150 more chips at the 50/100 level. I raised to isolate and she flipped K4o. She flopped her K and I lost a few chips. (t2050)
Folded for a few more hands, and then next orbit on my big blind, I had KQo, and again the shortstack pushed. I called and she flipped KJ, turned her J and I was down more chips. (t1600)
After that, I picked up AdQd in the cutoff in the same orbit, I raised to 300, and the big blind pushed for 200 more. Folded to me and I called, he flipped 33. Things were looking good, as I was racing pretty well, until the flop came 332. (t1000)
Then, my step-dad got moved to my table and he had 900 chips or so, I just had him covered. His first hand, he raised, and I put him all-in with JJ. He flipped AcQc and I held up to knock him out. I felt bad, but oh well, it's poker. (t2000)
Soon after, I got moved into my mom's old chair after she got taken out. I had position on the guy that took her out and I vowed to bust him. My first orbit, I got 22 and pushed all-in, blinds were 100/200 or 200/400, I can't remember for sure, but I was UTG and the guy's sister called me. She had maybe 1200 chips, so I had her covered, and she flipped K8. BB showed me the deuce that he folded, and she flopped her K. He said something about his family busting all of my family or something, turn was a blank and river was the case deuce, I told him to shut the hell up and play some cards. (t3500)
The next hand, it folded around to the SB, who completed. I pushed all-in, he folded, and I showed 32o. (t3700)
UTG again, I find 66, and raise it up to 1500, commiting myself. I told dickhead to my right that I was raising his BB intentionally, and UTG+1 called my raise, but only had 900 or so, and he flipped K3o. I outdrew krablar like a champ and chipped up a little more. (t5000)
We got moved to the final table, and there were 7 left. The top 5 got paid and I managed to chip up just playing aggressively because they all wanted to money. I don't think I showed down a hand until we were 5-handed, because they were all so passive. (t6500)
I was approximately tied for chiplead, the woman across from me had maybe 500 more chips than me. We were all in the money, when I picked up AJo UTG. I raised to 3000, blinds were 500/1000, and the guy that busted my mom called, which put him all-in. His sister, that I busted with the case deuce was dealing for us. He flipped 66 and said "Oh boy it's a race, I haven't lost all night!" or something to that effect. Flop 575, turn 4, river A, and he was done. I looked over and smiled at my mom and stuff. (t8500)
Very next hand, I get QQ in the big blind, and the button moves all-in for about 9000, and small blind moves all-in for about 8500, and I put my last 8500 in. Button flips KK, and SB flips JJ. Board was 2345A and we split. Whew. (t8500)
After that, I don't quite remember what hands happened, but the woman across from me busted, and then the guy to my left busted, and I was HU with the guy to my rightl; we had about even stacks, something like 25000 apiece. Blinds were up to 1000/2000 now. I bluffed the first hand and got a small lead. (t27000)
Picked up AJo and raised to 6000, he flat called. On a flop of 442, he checked, I bet 6000 again, and he comes over the top for another 9k. I just kinda sat back, looked at him and was like "wtf dude". He looked at me real stone-faced, and the guy that busted my mom was like "Call him, call him!" I said to him "No, he doesn't bluff, he's gotta have a hand to be doing this." I looked straight at the guy and he was nodding his head really fast, like he was trying to get me to believe he had a hand. I called instantly after I saw that and flipped it. He had K7o. Turn and river were blanks and I finally won my first live tournament.
Some things about the tourney:
Buyin - $10
Entrants - 38
1st place prize - $200
Sidenote: This is great, now I get to put money back into my Stars account and I can play some MTTs again. I don't know who knows, but I quit my job recently and have been living off of my bankroll. I just withdrew $400 to pay for all my bills this month and it left me pretty short, running breakeven for 7500 hands sucks. :(
I'm going golfing, taking most of the day off, will be on tonight possibly!
